The 8th traditional handicraft village festival opened at Lam Vien Square in Da Lat City in the central highland of Lam Dong on December 29.
The event includes a series of activities such as an exhibition of flowers, bamboo and rattan handicraft products, brocade, and ao dai; highlights of Lam Dong Province socio-economic achievements and display of the winning products at the Vietnamese handicraft product contest along with a presentation of agricultural produce of the province.
There will also be music performances, calligraphy displays, and demonstration of creating ‘to he’ (traditional toy figurines made from glutinous rice powder and shaped into tiny figures of dragons, roses, animals, people).
On the same day, an exhibition featuring nearly 200 wooden statues of ethnic people and charnel-house in the highland regions was inaugurated.
The provincial People’s Committee also gave the "Green Business Certificate" to 77 hotels, 10 restaurants and 6 tourist areas.
The festival is part of the Da Lat Flower Festival 2012 to take place from December 30 this year to January 3, 2012.
