Jetstar Pacific is operating the cheapest short-haul flights in
the world, says online tourism agency eDreams.
According to millions of eDreams bookings during 2011, the first Vietnamese
low-cost carrier offers the cheapest flights worldwide (€8.55 per 100 miles),
followed by Monarch from the UK (€9.61) and Romania’s Blue Air (€10.43).
EDreams rankings aim to provide customers with a valuable tool for flight
search, especially in the context of the world’s gloomy economy.
Formerly known as Pacific Airlines, the airline was renamed Jetstar Pacific in
2008 with 27 percent of its share being held by Qantas General Trading Company.
The other shareholders are State Capital Investment Corporation and Saigon
Tourist Holding Company.
The low-cost carrier is now operating domestic flights to Hanoi, HCM City,
Danang, Hue, Vinh, Haiphong, and Nha Trang.
