The Ba Dinh District People's Committee in Hanoi recently held a ceremony to recognize the latest restoration of the Voi Phuc Temple, on the occasion of the 1,000th anniversary of Thang Long - Hanoi.
The temple is in the western gateway to the capital and is one of four temples that were built in the four directions of Hanoi to protect the city against evil spirits.
Although the Voi Phuc Temple was rebuilt many times, ancient materials like Bat Trang bricks and blue flagstones and ancient articles have been conserved.
The Hanoi People's Committee assigned the Ba Dinh District People's Committee to restore the temple at a total cost of VND18.46 billion.
